The 2008 remake of K.I.T.T is changed quite a lot from the original and does not resemble it in many ways, with K.I.T.T (the car) now an off-road vehicle resembling a Humvee instead of the original Trans Am body style and with its voice now being robotic instead of David Hasslehoff's natural voice as seen in the original series This blog post will contain information about the 2008 remake of Knight Rider and discuss how it differs from the original series. The 2008 film is not based directly on the television series. However, some aspects of the original series were carried over, such as K.I.T.T's vehicle design and use of the high-tech "KITT" system, which utilizes voice recognition technology to allow K.I.T.T to "talk" to his driver (Michael Chiklis) through a microphone system installed in his car (a modified Ford Thunderbird SVT). Another similarity between the new series and the original is that Michael Chiklis also appeared in NBC's short lived spy show "Knight Rider 2000". The opening sequence is not the same as the original series, but instead of having a song written by the original show's creator Glen A. Larson written specifically for KITT, it features Moby's "Extreme Ways" and the words "Knight Rider 2008" and multiple pictures of KITT and Michael Chiklis. The opening sequence also features an extended version of Chiklis talking to KITT instead of just giving commands while driving like in the original series.The pilot has some changes from what would be featured in future episodes. —Michael Chiklis as Michael Knight, a former Las Vegas detective who is now living in Miami with his daughter, Sarah (Sydney Tamiia Poitier). As a result of an injury suffered on the job, Knight was forced to retire from Las Vegas Metro Police Department. He now works as a private detective. He is a tough, streetwise cop who isn't afraid to bend the rules to get results. His mission is to save lives and keep the innocent safe from harm. To succeed in this mission, Knight requires a vehicle that can keep pace with him, hence his reason for requesting KITT—the world's first fully integrated intelligent automobile—from its creator, Wilton Knight (Edward Mulhare). —Sydney Poitier as Sarah Graiman. Sarah is the daughter of Michael Knight. She is strong-willed, independent and capable—and concerned about her father's high risk, dangerous lifestyle. She worries that his man vaue may be more than she can bear. —Deanna Russo as Devon Miles, a 28-year-old research scientist who works for KITT's co-creator, Wilton Knight (Edward Mulhare). Devon created the revolutionary operating system that was used to build KITT.
